A home-made breakfast courtesy of chef Arif - Huevos revueltos con cebollas fritas, tomatillos y aguacates... so good.

On the move
Transportation is a squeeze in CDMX - there's a lot of traffic. Getting around takes a patience... It feels like distances on the map don't correlate with the experience of the road, the walk is usually longer than expected. I suspect its another scale of reference thing, CDMX is so much bigger than I'm used to when I look at a map, so what appears just nearby is easily a 20 minute walk.
The city is full of contrasts and hidden gems everywhere. Beautiful and unique architectures next to abandoned buildings and crumbling shells, and plenty of little miracles - like the 'Casa del Volks' where they repair and restore any manner of Volkswagen - including the beautiful Brasilia - as the owner said to me, when I mentioned i used to own a beetle "Everyone used to own a beetle."

Another jewel in our neighbourhood walk is a fire station which doubles as a kind of converted museum – the working fire trucks are all parked on the street. It is full of relics of past firefighting and rescue, amazing - wooden wheels and everything.

ancient fire trucks, pump trucks, ladder trucks – all red.
The afternoon rainstorms are a constant, and a nice interlude. A pause in the action...
As always, thanks for reading and indulging!
hasta la próxima!
