There are a lot of stairs here. It's a vertical city. One would get used to the stair climbing, I'm sure, but flatness is a scarcity. No wonder, then, that the prime area of Zona Centro with the Jardin de la Union, the Teatro Juárez and the Templo de San Diego de Alcalá are all squeezed into the littlest of flat spots in the middle of the valley. It's picturesque, and I loved the trimmed and groomed trees of the Jardin.

Getting around is work, though... walking inevitably involves negotiating those stairs - and although the funicular is cool, there's only one that climbs a near-vertical cliff of a slope. Driving is equally work. Given the steep walls, it's a tight squeeze, and it's a circuitous affair through one-way circuits and tunnels - fun though - as a passenger.
