People who know, know I'm a big fan of serendipity... It's the way of the open and curious to see a world that is constantly enfolding and unfolding around us.

So, I had to chuckle yesterday when my blindly ordered cerveza arrived – there were two options, a lager and a ? ...which is what I went with. I was delighted when a session IPA showed up with its beautiful pink label and the words "Piedra Lisa" – Smooth Stone. How appropriate, I thought, as I work away on my pet pebble project, Stonemaps...

The beer was delicious, and was served only a stone's throw away from the apartment at El Ilusionista Café - a sweet spot in Escandón that we landed at after a major thundershower - so much like back in Kenya, an afternoon downpour with lots of thunder and lightning and columns of water from the dark grey skies.

There have been major protests here in CDMX. Young people are pushing back at the rising tide of foreign gentrification and displacement. The neo-colonialism of extractive capitalism is hard at work here, as it is everywhere, with its voracious appetite to consume everything in sight. The consumer experiment has exceeded the furthest expectations of its inventors...
